Maternal Death Rate

Today an aunt and neighbor arrive at
the Center of Hope with a baby born
yesterday at the hospital. The mother,
age 20, died within two hours of
delivery. The obstetrician thinks
cause was aminotic emboli but there is
pathologist here to confirm a
diagnosis. The health agent where she
lives has found a "wet nurse" for this
baby to breast feed. HHF is working
very hard to identify high risk
pregnancies and develop interventions
to prevent this kind of story.
